BlueWave Solar Proposes 5.49-Megawatt Solar Array and Battery Storage in Southampton, MA

ENERGY STORAGE

BlueWave Solar, under Manhan River LLC, is proposing a 5.49-megawatt solar array and battery energy storage system on approximately 40 acres of farmland off Pleasant Street in Southampton, MA. The project aims to co-locate solar generation with agricultural use.

Concerns raised during a Town Hall meeting included potential impacts on wetlands, the Barnes Aquifer, and turtle habitats. The project will consist of nearly 10,000 rotating agrivoltaic solar panels and two lithium iron phosphate batteries.

Energy generated will be directed to the Eversource Grid. The Conservation Commission is awaiting results from wetland delineation reviews, which could alter project plans. The next commission meeting is scheduled for February 2.
