BMW Launches New Electric iX3 and Fifth-Generation X5 in South Africa

BMW is set to expand its South African lineup with the electric iX3 and the fifth-generation X5. CEO Peter van Binsbergen announced at a media briefing that BMW holds a 46% market share in the premium car sector, with a 12% local sales growth in 2025 despite competition from imported brands.

The new X5, launching globally late this year, will introduce five drivetrain options including hydrogen fuel cell technology. The iX3, arriving in the second half of 2025, will be BMW's first model from its Neue Klasse platform, featuring sixth-generation eDrive technology aimed at enhancing efficiency.

The X3 lineup will also include a new Rugged version priced at R1,254,417. Additionally, BMW Motorrad will introduce the new F450 GS motorcycle, and the MINI brand will expand with electric John Cooper Works models.
