The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) will conduct Lease Sale BBG3, offering 15,100 blocks on 80.4 million acres in the Gulf of America, with a bid reading scheduled for August 12. This sale is part of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, aiming to bolster offshore energy resources and is expected to generate significant revenue for the US Treasury and support local economies.
In the UK, the upcoming offshore wind auction AR8 will include 17.1 GW of eligible capacity, a decrease from the last auction's 26.5 GW, amidst expectations that budget constraints may limit awarded contracts. Taiwan's Energy Administration has amended offshore wind auction rules to allow rebidding of terminated projects, expanding potential capacity while addressing market challenges. The adjustments aim to attract more developers and enhance project viability, although concerns about costs and local content regulations persist.
