Boerne Allocates $5.3 Million for Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion
Boerne plans to invest over $5 million to expand its wastewater treatment plant to accommodate population growth. The project is crucial for managing increased demand for water services in the rapidly developing Hill Country region.

Boerne City Council approved a $5.3 million expansion of its wastewater treatment facility to address demands from a population that has surged from 10,500 in 2010 to an estimated 25,000. The enhancement will include a new pump facility and upgrades to existing infrastructure, allowing the plant to treat up to 5.2 million gallons of wastewater daily, sufficient for approximately 50,000 residents.
A 600,000-gallon steel storage tank for reclaimed water will also be installed, primarily servicing developments on the east side. With construction set to begin in April and conclude by February, future expansions are anticipated between 2030 and 2033. Increased water and wastewater rates have been implemented to fund these infrastructure improvements.
