United Launch Alliance announces the near completion of SpaceShip, a new vessel from Bollinger Shipyards for transporting rocket components. This 356-foot ship will facilitate the transport of Vulcan and Atlas V elements from Decatur, Alabama, to launch sites in Florida and California. The SpaceShip, alongside the RocketShip, is uniquely capable of navigating both rivers and open ocean.

United Launch Alliance has announced the near completion of the SpaceShip, a rocket-launching vessel built by Bollinger Shipyards, designed to transport Vulcan components. The SpaceShip, a 356-foot roll-on/roll-off vessel, will transport Atlas V and Vulcan rocket elements from the ULA factory in Decatur, Alabama, to Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida and Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.
The SpaceShip and RocketShip are the only American ships that can navigate both rivers and open ocean. Bollinger was awarded the contract for the SpaceShip in late 2023, with a keel-laying ceremony held in October 2024.
