Bongo Chief Calls for Acceleration of Solar Farm Amid Power Crisis
The Paramount Chief of Bongo, Naba Baba Salifu Atamale Lemyaarum, urges swift action on a solar farm project to address ongoing power disruptions in the Upper East Region. His appeal highlights the urgent need for reliable electricity, especially given the adverse health impacts of extreme heat exacerbated by power outages.

Naba Baba Salifu Atamale Lemyaarum has requested President John Dramani Mahama to expedite the development of a solar farm in Bongo. The Upper East Region is facing persistent power fluctuations, with residents experiencing at least two weeks of erratic electricity supply and even prolonged outages due to infrastructure issues.
A substation fire recently highlighted the critical state of the power system. The solar project, proposed by the Volta River Authority in 2014, remains incomplete despite the region's potential for solar energy.
The Chief argues that this resource could alleviate domestic power needs while hydropower is reserved for industrial use. The ongoing power crisis poses public health risks during the current heatwave, indicating an urgent need for governmental action.
