Bord Gáis Energy will invest €1 billion from 2024-2029 to advance Ireland's energy transition. The company currently operates 1GW of energy generation and plans to double its renewable portfolio by 2028, providing nearly 1 TWh of clean electricity annually.
Key projects include the development of gas peaking plants in Dublin and Athlone, and the Cashla Peaker Plant in Galway, which will stabilize the grid. Additionally, the Kestrel Project will convert decommissioned gas fields into long-duration energy storage, aiding in energy security.
