Bordeaux Residents Utilize Free Heating from Qarnot's Computing Servers
Residents in Bordeaux's Florestine residence benefit from zero heating costs through innovative technology from Qarnot. This approach repurposes waste heat from computing activities, but efficiencies have not met initial expectations.

In Bordeaux, tenants of the Florestine residence have eliminated heating costs by using Qarnot's QH-1 radiators, which harness waste heat from digital activities. This system is designed to replace traditional data centers by integrating servers directly into living spaces.
However, the actual efficiency has been assessed at around 50% waste heat recovery rather than the anticipated 70%. Issues with heat regulation have been reported, causing fluctuations in temperature and triggering additional electrical heating costs, which Qarnot is responsible for.
As a result, Qarnot ceased production of these radiators due to profitability concerns. This case highlights the challenges of sustainable energy solutions in the residential sector.
