Boskalis to Invest in New Cable Lay Vessel for Renewable Energy Support
Boskalis will invest in a high-capacity Cable Lay Vessel (CLV) set to launch in 2029, addressing increasing offshore energy infrastructure demands. The vessel will enhance capabilities in long-distance cable installation, particularly for high-voltage direct current projects, thereby supporting global renewable energy initiatives.

Royal Boskalis B.V. is investing in a new Cable Lay Vessel (CLV), aimed for service in 2029, to meet the rising demand in offshore wind and interconnector markets. This vessel will feature two 12,000-ton cable carousels, allowing for the installation of longer cable sections, which minimizes the need for offshore joints and improves cable integrity.
The investment aligns with the drive for decarbonization and energy independence, leading to greater demand for robust grid infrastructure. Boskalis' integrated service capabilities in cable laying and seabed preparation will reduce interface risks, enhancing its competitive edge in the market. The deployment of this CLV is critical for advancing sustainable energy infrastructure worldwide.
