Boulder City Data Center Proposal Withdrawn by Townsite Solar 2, LLC
Townsite Solar 2, LLC has withdrawn its application for a proposed data center in Boulder City, following community disapproval. The developer still retains an option for solar energy projects on city land until the end of 2026.

Townsite Solar 2, LLC has withdrawn its application to develop a data center on approximately 88.5 acres of city-owned land in Boulder City, halting the city's review process. The Bureau of Land Management approved a right-of-way grant for an adjacent 80-acre site for solar and battery storage on June 26, 2026, which includes a 30-day appeal period.
Initial revenue estimates for the proposed data center indicated potential annual income of $2.3 million for the city, covering costs of community services. Despite the withdrawal, the City Council will still discuss the Planning Commission's recommendation against adding data centers to the Land Management Process on July 14. The decision reflects ongoing concerns regarding water and energy consumption of data centers in the region.
