bp and Iberdrola Complete 25MW Green Hydrogen Plant in Castellón, Spain
bp and Iberdrola's joint venture has completed the construction of a 25MW green hydrogen plant in Castellón, Spain. The facility, developed through Castellón Green Hydrogen S.L., will produce 2,800 tonnes of green hydrogen annually, reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 23,000 tonnes per year. Testing of the equipment will commence in May 2026. The project involved an investment exceeding €70 million, with funding from the Spanish Recovery Plan and includes contributions from 25 Spanish companies.

bp and Iberdrola's joint venture has reached final construction phase for a 25MW green hydrogen plant in Castellón, Spain. The plant, developed by Castellón Green Hydrogen S.L., is 90% complete with all equipment on site, including an electrolyser from Plug Power.
It is expected to produce 2,800 tonnes of green hydrogen annually, reducing CO2 emissions by around 23,000 tonnes per year. The investment exceeds €70 million, supported by funding from the Spanish Recovery Plan and involves 25 Spanish companies. Testing will begin in May 2026, with renewable energy sourced from Iberdrola's facilities.
