The Brewers' Association of India (BAI) will invest Rs 5,500 crore in Uttar Pradesh's beer industry over the next three years, driven by the new excise policy. This includes ongoing projects like two greenfield breweries worth Rs 1,500 crore, two aluminium can plants for Rs 2,000 crore, and several glass production units valued at Rs 2,000 crore.
The UP government’s policy for 2026-27 aims to enhance transparency and stability for the beer sector, maintaining beer tax rates while raising those on spirits. This approach is designed to promote higher consumption of beer without affecting tax revenues.
