Brinell Compute GmbH is negotiating a €3 billion investment for an AI facility near Plovdiv, Bulgaria. The Bulgarian government approved a memorandum of understanding on January 21, 2026, to formalize the partnership.

A decision regarding the facility's location is anticipated in the second quarter of 2026, with construction expected to commence if the proposal is approved. Brinell Compute, established in Munich in September 2025, focuses on AI infrastructure and has funded over €2.5 billion in energy projects in Europe. Additionally, Bulgaria plans to host an AI factory as part of a €20 billion EU initiative to develop supercomputers for future AI models.
