Brunswick Electric Membership Corporation is upgrading its Supply substation to address infrastructure needs amid rising demand. The expansion includes enhancements to protective relaying and additional circuit breakers, funded by revenue and USDA loans.

Brunswick Electric Membership Corporation is set to expand its Supply substation in 2026 to accommodate growth. This project involves replacing aging infrastructure and installing new protective relaying and circuit breakers to enhance service reliability.
Currently serving 90,000 members, an increase of 20,000 since 2014, the corporation aims to ensure continuity during maintenance by adding support structures for temporary mobile equipment. Funding will come from a mix of revenue funds and USDA loans. In the next five years, additional substations are planned in Brunswick and Columbus counties, aiming to meet increasing energy demands in the area.
