Brush City Council Discusses Winter Road Maintenance and Funding Opportunities

WATER INFRASTRUCTURE & DESALINATION

The Brush City Council convened on January 26, with Finance Director Chris Bostron presenting the 2025 audit engagement letter, which was approved unanimously. The audit fee is set at $21,000, reflecting a $1,100 increase from 2024.

The council also adopted Resolution 2026-2, reducing the special event liquor license fee from $100 to $50. During the meeting, City Administrator Monty Torres reported on winter road conditions, stating that crews assess conditions to determine when to deploy salt and sand trucks.

Emergency routes, schools, and emergency services are prioritized. Torres noted that the city is anticipating potential congressional funding, including $2.2 million for a wastewater treatment facility and $1 million for a water treatment facility, pending verification. Additionally, the city identified 10 properties needing cleanup, following a recent focus on the Circle property.
