Bucharest National Airports Company Initiates 31.5 MW Photovoltaic Project at Henri Coanda Airport
The National Airports Company of Bucharest is launching a 31.5 MW photovoltaic project at Henri Coandă International Airport, which includes a 30 MWh energy storage system. The initial phase, costing 176.878 million RON with significant funding from the Modernization Fund, will feature a 12.6 MWp solar plant aimed at enhancing energy autonomy and reducing operational costs. The airport has also achieved Level 3 accreditation under the Airport Carbon Accreditation program for its commitment to managing and decreasing CO2 emissions.

The National Airports Company of Bucharest (CNAB) is implementing a renewable energy project for Henri Coandă International Airport, featuring a photovoltaic power plant with a planned capacity of 31.5 MWp and a 30 MWh energy storage system. The project, valued at 283.765 million lei (excluding VAT), will be executed in phases according to the airport's energy needs.
The first phase includes a 12.6 MWp photovoltaic plant and a 17.88 MWh storage system, connected to the airport's 20 kV power plant. This phase has a budget of 176.878 million RON, with 132 million RON covered by non-reimbursable financing from the Modernization Fund.
The project aims to enhance energy autonomy, reduce operational costs, and lower environmental impact. Additionally, Bucharest Henri Coanda Airport has achieved Level 3 accreditation under the Airport Carbon Accreditation program, recognizing its efforts in managing and reducing CO2 emissions.
