Bujagali Energy Limited Recognized for High Operational Standards
Bujagali Energy Limited (BEL) has been praised by the Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA) for exceeding operational benchmarks. The plant, operational since January 2012, is producing 99% of its designed capacity of 250 megawatts, while maintaining local employment and operational excellence.

Bujagali Energy Limited (BEL) has achieved a production rate of 99% against a designed output of 96% at its hydro power station in Uganda. The Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA) commended BEL for adhering to operational licence conditions during its annual inspection.
The company has also sourced 97% of its workforce locally. BEL was awarded a 32-year management contract starting January 2012 and has been exonerated from recent load shedding issues, attributed to transmission company failures.
Future considerations may allow BEL to utilize excess water from the dam to increase power generation. Modern technology and asset management practices have been implemented to enhance service delivery and safety at the facility, which has a generation capacity of 250 megawatts.
