Bulloch County Implements 90-Day Moratoriums to Manage Development and Data Center Proposals

DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTURE

Bulloch County Commissioners approved two moratoriums lasting 90 days to pause new housing developments and data center proposals. The housing moratorium is a response to a Georgia Tech study indicating a need for 8,000 new residences in the next decade.

The pause allows for investigation into impact fees to fund infrastructure improvements necessary for growth. The second moratorium addresses concerns about potential data centers, allowing for an unbiased evaluation of the topic without immediate pressure from proposals. Both moratoriums may be extended after a public hearing on May 5.
