Bureau de Change Retrofits Euston Building with Sustainable Facade Design
Bureau de Change's retrofit of a 1980s residential building in Euston introduces a new facade by repurposing existing materials. This project, named Trace, combines modern design with sustainability, enhancing environmental compliance while expanding living spaces.

The Trace project in Euston, London, retrofits a 1980s brick building by adding two floors and creating five apartments, while largely retaining existing structures. Bureau de Change utilized crushed brick from the original facade to produce new glass-reinforced concrete (GRC) cladding panels, aligning with sustainability goals and circular economy principles.
The facade design features a play of scale and color, integrating modern technology and historical context. Compliance with building regulations and environmental standards was prioritized, alongside ease of disassembly and waste minimization. The project reflects a blend of architectural vision and sustainable practices, addressing both aesthetic and functional objectives.
