BurnStar and Mitochondria Energy Announce Turquoise Hydrogen Supply Agreement in South Africa
BurnStar Technologies and Mitochondria Energy Company have signed a Letter of Intent for the on-site supply of turquoise hydrogen to fuel SOFC systems in South Africa. This partnership aims to enhance clean power generation capabilities in the region, with a phased rollout of 15 fuel cell systems starting in late 2026, targeting an annual hydrogen off-take of 200 tons.

BurnStar Technologies and Mitochondria Energy Company have formalized a Letter of Intent to provide turquoise hydrogen for Mitochondria's Solid Oxide Fuel Cell systems. The deployment begins in late 2026, featuring a total capacity of 800 kW.
The LMBC reactor will produce high-purity hydrogen with zero CO2 emissions, supplying Mitochondria's modular units, which achieve electrical efficiencies of up to 60%. A joint feasibility study is set for completion within three months, with a definitive supply agreement anticipated within six months. The initiative aims to validate hydrogen solutions in South Africa, improving commercial viability and accelerating clean energy transitions.
