BUZZ HPC to Develop 320 MW AI Gigafactory in Greater Toronto Area
BUZZ HPC plans a CAD $3.5 billion AI infrastructure facility in Toronto, targeting over 100,000 GPUs. This initiative marks a significant move toward enhancing Canada's domestic AI compute capabilities, reducing reliance on foreign data centers.

BUZZ HPC, a subsidiary of HIVE Digital Technologies, is set to construct a 320 MW AI gigafactory in the Greater Toronto Area at an estimated cost of CAD $3.5 billion. This facility aims to host over 100,000 GPUs and will employ liquid-cooling technology, utilizing NVIDIA GPUs and managed by Kubernetes and Slurm.
Partnerships with Bell Canada, Dell Technologies, and VAST Data will support infrastructure, hardware, and storage needs. This project is crucial for Canadian AI sovereignty, providing local alternatives to foreign data centers. However, the capital investment poses risks regarding financing and operational execution amidst competitive GPU supply and potential construction delays.
