Búzios Field Sets Natural Gas Export Records Amid Production Modernization
Petrobras reported Búzios field achieved record natural gas exports, surpassing 10 million m³/d in August 2026. The increase is attributed to the optimization of existing production systems, not new installations.

The Búzios field's natural gas exports exceeded 10 million cubic meters per day in August 2026, setting a new record. The previous record was 9.1 million m³/d in March 2026, and a daily record of 14.1 million m³/d was reached on August 6, up from 13.9 million m³/d in July.
Optimization initiatives, particularly modernization of gas treatment plants on platforms P-74 through P-77, have doubled export capacity per platform from 1.5 million to 3 million m³/d. Future expansions include new systems for P-78 and P-79 by 2027, with Búzios 12 expected to add 5.5 million m³/d by 2032.
In Upper Burrell Township, the TECfusions Keystone Connect data center has been operational since June 2026, with plans to scale to 3 gigawatts of power, transitioning to onsite natural gas. Local opposition persists regarding zoning and environmental concerns as the township develops regulations for data centers.
