Caculo-Cabaca Hydropower Station Initiates Power Supply to Angola
The Caculo-Cabaca Hydropower Station in Angola's Cuanza Norte province has commenced electricity supply to rural communities. This project, backed by the China Gezhouba Group, aims to generate over 8,500 gigawatt-hours annually, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The Caculo-Cabaca Hydropower Station has started providing electricity to rural areas in Cuanza Norte, Angola. Construction began in August 2017, with the project expected to connect its first generator to the national power grid by October, ultimately making it the largest hydroelectric facility in Angola and the third largest in Africa.
Designed with a capacity of 2,172 megawatts, it will produce over 8,500 gigawatt-hours of electricity yearly, lowering greenhouse gas emissions by about 7.2 million tons. This initiative highlights energy cooperation between China and Angola, enhancing public energy security and supporting development across multiple sectors.
