Cagayan Province Considered for Future Philippine Spaceport Development
The Philippines is exploring Cagayan as a potential rocket launch site through a partnership involving PhilSA, DICT, CEZA, Ascend International Gateway, and South Korea's Perigee Aerospace. The collaboration aims to enhance local expertise in launch technology, with a focus on training Filipino engineers and developing infrastructure for small rocket launches. Cagayan's geographic advantages make it suitable for minimizing risks during launches, supporting the growing small-satellite market.

Cagayan in northern Luzon is being considered as a potential rocket launch site as the Philippines develops its space capabilities through partnerships with international firms. The program involves the Philippine Space Agency, DICT, CEZA, and Ascend International Gateway, collaborating with South Korea's Perigee Aerospace.
The initiative includes training programs and the development of a sounding rocket, aiming to build local expertise in launch vehicle technology. Cagayan's coastal areas are seen as viable for aerospace investment, with potential for small rocket launches carrying microsatellites.
Previous cooperation between PhilSA and Perigee Aerospace has focused on training and technology transfer, with Filipino engineers participating in workshops and hands-on training in rocket technology. The project could lead to Cagayan hosting the Philippines' first experimental rocket launches and becoming a regional hub for small-satellite launch services.
