Cal Poly's PolySat Lab to Launch SAL-E Satellite on SpaceX Rocket from Vandenberg
Cal Poly's PolySat Lab is set to launch the SAL-E satellite on March 29 using a SpaceX rocket from Vandenberg Space Force Base. Developed by students since 2023, the satellite will test a radiation-sensing microchip and a new radio communication device. The PolySat Lab focuses on providing hands-on aerospace experience, with CubeSats enabling low-cost satellite construction. Cal Poly has successfully launched 11 satellites since 2007, preparing students for careers in aerospace and technology.

The SAL-E satellite, developed by Cal Poly's PolySat Lab students, is scheduled to launch on March 29 aboard a SpaceX rocket from Vandenberg Space Force Base. The satellite, named after astronaut Sally Ride, will test a microchip for radiation sensing and a new radio communication device.
Established in 2023, the PolySat Lab aims to provide hands-on aerospace experience through CubeSats, small, cost-effective satellites. Cal Poly has launched 11 satellites since 2007, with alumni advancing in aerospace and technology sectors. The ongoing projects and educational opportunities continue to empower students in the aerospace industry.
