Calderglen Country Park Unveils 10-Year Masterplan for Improvements
A ten-year masterplan for Calderglen Country Park in East Kilbride will be presented to councillors today. The proposal outlines strategic frameworks for improvements, including visitor experience enhancement, heritage protection, and sustainability initiatives, with most projects dependent on external funding.
Extensive public consultation occurred in 2024 and 2025, collecting nearly 800 responses. Stakeholder feedback from Historic Environment Scotland and local groups informed the plan. Key projects include a new gateway and visitor centre, improved historic buildings, upgraded walking and cycling routes, better signage, biodiversity enhancements, and infrastructure upgrades.
The council has allocated £300,000 for a new pump track aimed at children aged three to 10, with completion expected by Summer 2026. The masterplan will guide investments over the next decade and support funding bids from UK and Scottish Governments and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
