Cambodian Lawmaker's Request on Hydropower Dam Sent to Mines Minister
National Assembly President Heng Samrin has forwarded a request from opposition lawmaker Son Chhay regarding the Lower Sesan II hydropower dam. The inquiry seeks solutions for villagers affected by the project who oppose relocation.

Son Chhay's letter concerning the Lower Sesan II hydropower dam project, dated August 31, was forwarded to the Ministry of Mines and Energy by National Assembly President Heng Samrin. The letter requests solutions for villagers in Kbal Romeas and Srekor who have declined relocation.
Previously, multiple inquiries from Chhay to Minister Suy Sem were blocked by Samrin, despite lacking constitutional authority to do so. This situation raises concerns about legislative transparency and the potential for unresolved grievances among affected communities.
