Canaan Secures Tether Order for Modular Mining Hardware
Canaan has received a new order from Tether for custom Bitcoin mining hardware focused on modular infrastructure. This order follows a previous R&D partnership and aims to enhance Tether's mining capabilities in South America.

Canaan will provide high-density hash board modules for immersion-cooled systems under a new order from Tether. This collaboration marks an extension of their relationship beyond initial R&D efforts aimed at improving large-scale mining operations.
The agreement allows Tether to scale its infrastructure with an option for additional purchases based on performance. Tether is also developing its own hardware control boards and management software to enhance integration within its mining operations.
This shift occurs as industry players diversify into data centers and AI workloads due to revenue pressures. Analysts suggest that some miners may transition away from traditional mining to focus more on AI cloud services.
