Canada Invests $6.6 Million in HEV Innovation Garage at RRC Polytech, Manitoba

The Government of Canada announced a $3.3 million investment to establish the Innovation Garage at RRC Polytech in Manitoba, in partnership with the Vehicle Technology Centre and the Province of Manitoba. This funding complements an equal investment from the Manitoba government.

The project aims to enhance RRC Polytech’s capabilities in applied research and development for the heavy equipment and vehicle (HEV) sector by creating facilities for industrial-scale collaboration, a microgrid lab for energy innovation and EV infrastructure, and a hydrogen and fuel cell lab for clean propulsion systems. These initiatives will support small- and medium-sized enterprises in adopting new technologies, improving workforce skills, and promoting made-in-Canada innovations. This project aligns with the Prairie Partnership Initiative to bolster Manitoba's leadership in clean tech and advanced manufacturing, ensuring competitiveness in the global HEV market.
