Canada Nickel Company Plans Carbon Storage Using Brucite at Crawford Nickel Mine in Ontario

STRATEGIC MINERALSCARBON CAPTURE

Canada Nickel Company Inc. plans to utilize brucite for carbon storage at its Crawford Nickel-Cobalt Sulphide Project near Timmins, Ontario. The mine aims to be Canada's largest and expects to reduce emissions from 15,200 kilotonnes to 154 kilotonnes annually by 2030.

It can store over 54 megatonnes of CO2 during its 41-year lifespan. The project, which will involve a new rail line and ore processing plants, has secured between US$100 million and US$300 million in government funding. Additionally, Canada Nickel aims to support a low-carbon industrial cluster in the region by sourcing carbon from nearby industrial emitters.
