Canadian Army Reserve Modernization Efforts Discussed at Brandon University Event
Col. Evelyn Kotzer addressed the modernization of the Canadian Armed Forces reserve at Brandon University, focusing on efforts to expand and enhance the mobilization of part-time reservists into full-time roles for improved responsiveness. She highlighted ongoing upgrades in equipment and uniforms, alongside plans for gradual increases in personnel to ensure readiness amid global uncertainties. Kotzer, commander of the 38 Canadian Brigade Group, underscored the reserve's vital role in emergency responses and international operations, including recent engagements in Ukraine.

The army is making immediate improvements in equipment and uniforms while planning gradual increases in soldier numbers. Kotzer, commander of 38 Canadian Brigade Group, emphasized the importance of readiness in a changing security landscape.
She noted recent investments in defense and exciting new equipment. The reserve has previously responded to emergencies and international operations, including in Ukraine, where Kotzer earned the U.S. Defence Meritorious Service Medal.
