Carbon Credit Registries Introduce Environmental Attribute Credits for Supply Chain Decarbonization
Major carbon credit registries are expanding their focus to include environmental attribute credits (EACs), facilitating investments in supply-chain decarbonization. This shift addresses barriers companies face in accessing solutions to reduce emissions, making it easier to implement sustainable practices across various industries.

Isometric and Verra, prominent carbon credit registries, are broadening their scopes to include environmental attribute credits (EACs), assisting companies in achieving supply-chain decarbonization. Isometric plans to release a book-and-claim module to enable EAC management, with the first credits for low-carbon cement expected later this year.
Verra's Scope 3 Units program is in pilot stages with companies like Patagonia and Bayer, with a planned release now targeted for Q3 2026 after delays. The proliferation of EAC schemes may enhance climate action but could also lead to regulatory challenges as companies navigate compliance with diverse standards.
