Carlyle Co-Founder's Kitebrook Infra Targets Norway's Hydropower for Data Centers
Kitebrook Infra, co-founded by Bill Conway and Byrne Murphy, aims to secure hydropower resources in Norway for data centers. This initiative responds to the growing demand for clean energy solutions as tech firms expand their infrastructure for artificial intelligence.

Kitebrook Infra, backed by Carlyle Group co-founder Bill Conway and real estate developer Byrne Murphy, seeks to acquire land and hydropower in Norway for data center developers. The venture is focused on creating shovel-ready sites that leverage hydropower, aiming for a portfolio exceeding 500 megawatts of electricity.
Murphy's first site in Masfjorden has secured one hydropower agreement and is pursuing another. The project addresses the increasing demand for clean energy amidst the rapid growth of AI infrastructure while competing with various market players for resources and local support.
