Casa dos Ventos Plans 1.5 GW Wind Expansion Amid Energy Curtailment Changes
Casa dos Ventos aims to add 1.5 GW of wind energy by 2028, shifting project selection criteria to include regional curtailment levels. This strategic pivot reflects the company's response to increasing energy generation cuts while maintaining investment momentum.

Casa dos Ventos is set to expand its wind energy capacity by 1.5 GW by the end of 2028, focusing on areas with lower curtailment such as Rio Grande do Sul. Currently operating 4.3 GW, the company plans to invest in new solar and wind projects totaling 2.1 GW in Ceará and Piauí.
The firm has recently partnered with Omnia to supply energy for a ByteDance data center. Despite facing curtailment losses of 8-10%, below the sector average of 15%, Casa dos Ventos aims to grow its capacity to 6.4 GW by early 2028 and 11 GW by 2030, indicating strong market positioning. The company is also exploring battery storage solutions, with a federal auction for such projects scheduled for December.
