Casa dos Ventos is set to establish a cryptocurrency mining data center at one of its power plants in Northeast Brazil, with funding from a partner company. This project aims to address energy generation cuts mandated by the ONS due to excess supply over demand.

The mining facility will leverage surplus energy, potentially reducing losses from generation cuts by up to 50%. The company has previously participated in the TikTok data center project in Ceará and is also implementing demand response strategies for large consumers to lower usage during peak hours.

The financial potential of this service has not been disclosed, and Casa dos Ventos is focusing on portfolio returns. The renewable sector has faced over R$ 6.5 billion in losses from generation cuts since October 2021.
