Cass County Commissioners to Reconsider Funding for Park Improvements
Cass County Board of Commissioners is set to vote on April 9 to allocate $249,192 from the Bombardie bequest for park funding. The project, which has already incurred $100,000 in costs, aims to address a funding gap of over $320,000 for improvements at Dr. T.K. Lawless County Park.

On April 9, the Cass County Board of Commissioners will revisit a proposal to allocate $249,192 from the Bombardie bequest to address the funding shortfall for improvements at Dr. T.K. Lawless County Park, which has a total project cost estimate of $857,200.
Previous funding requests were rejected during a split vote on March 19, despite $119,000 already spent on design. The project includes a new parking lot, gatehouse, and a splash pad, but currently has an estimated shortfall of approximately $376,000.
Additionally, the board will consider a new fee structure for cannabis cultivation sites, proposing a tiered system to reduce costs for large operations. Discussions on data center development are also expected to continue, following Hyperscale Data Inc.'s recent land acquisition announcement.
