CATL Secures Major Sodium-Ion Battery Contracts with HyperStrong and Hithium
CATL has established a strategic partnership with HyperStrong to supply 60 GWh of sodium-ion batteries over three years, marking a significant milestone in the sector. This agreement, alongside another with Hithium, highlights CATL's advancements in overcoming production challenges, positioning sodium-ion technology as a competitive alternative to lithium-ion batteries.

CATL has signed significant agreements to deliver a total of 60 GWh of sodium-ion batteries to HyperStrong and Hithium over three years. This represents the largest order for sodium-ion technology to date, indicating CATL's capability for large-scale production following the resolution of key manufacturing challenges.
Sodium-ion batteries, branded Naxtra, offer energy density of 175 Wh/kg and operate within -40°C to +70°C. These contracts are projected to facilitate the integration of sodium-ion technology into energy storage systems, enhancing supply chain compatibility. The success of these initiatives may accelerate industrial growth in sodium-ion batteries, potentially shifting market demand away from lithium-ion solutions.
