Cebu Provincial Government Plans Waste-to-Fuel Facility to Enhance Waste Management
The Cebu Provincial Government is set to install a waste-to-fuel facility at the existing materials recovery facility near the Marcelo Fernan Palace of Justice. This initiative aims to reduce waste volume by 30% and is part of the Clean Cebu Campaign launched on March 19, 2026. The facility will convert plastic waste into fuel for provincial operations. The project, utilizing technology from JCA 1221 Holdings Inc., is expected to be operational by April 2026 and aligns with national energy response efforts following a recent State of National Energy Emergency declaration.

The Cebu Provincial Government plans to install a waste-to-fuel facility at its materials recovery facility near the Marcelo Fernan Palace of Justice to cut waste volume by 30%. The project is part of the Clean Cebu Campaign launched on March 19, 2026.
Once operational in April, it will process plastic waste into fuel, potentially saving energy costs for provincial operations. The initiative incorporates technology from JCA 1221 Holdings Inc., which employs zero-waste pyrolysis. Additionally, the province continues to explore waste-to-energy options but faces challenges including high costs and the need for cooperation among Metro Cebu local government units.
