Cellnex Sells Towerlink France to Vauban Infra Fibre to Focus on Shared Network Solutions

DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTURE

Cellnex has sold 99.99% of Towerlink France, its data center operations in France, to VIFSP6 Trinity, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Vauban Infra Fibre. The cash transaction followed approval from French investment authorities and worker consultation processes.

This divestment aligns with Cellnex's strategy to concentrate on core telecommunication infrastructure by reducing non-core activities. The proceeds will enhance the company’s balance sheet and facilitate further investments in the modernization of its European network.

The demand for mobile data is increasing at nearly 40% annually, necessitating shared infrastructure models like neutral host systems, which allow multiple operators to utilize a single network to reduce costs and improve service quality. The DAS as a Service model enables indoor coverage and capacity, offering significant CapEx savings for operators by centralizing management and maintenance.
