Cemig Invests in Energy Infrastructure for Data Centers in Minas Gerais
Cemig is enhancing energy infrastructure in Minas Gerais to support the growing demand from data centers, which are projected to consume 415 TWh globally by 2024. In Uberlândia, RT-One is investing R$ 6 billion in a data center expected to create 2,000 jobs, while Cemig has initiated a pilot energy storage project to address supply shortages. The company's president emphasizes the need for testing new technologies over subsidizing established ones, noting over R$ 50 billion in renewable subsidies planned for 2025.

Cemig is focusing on enhancing distribution networks in Minas Gerais to support data center installations. Data centers, which consume significant electricity, are expected to reach 415 TWh globally by 2024.
