Centre Approves Dulhasti Stage-II Hydroelectric Project in Jammu and Kashmir
The Centre has approved the long-pending 260-MW Dulhasti Stage-II hydroelectric project in Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir, after receiving necessary clearances. The project, which will be executed by NHPC Limited on a Build-Own-Operate-Transfer basis, is expected to be completed within 44 months. The Detailed Project Report was approved on May 26, 2025, followed by environmental clearance on January 7, 2026. Land acquisition will follow the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition Act, 2013.

The Central Government has cleared the 260-MW Dulhasti Stage-II hydroelectric project in Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir, which will be executed by NHPC Limited on a Build-Own-Operate-Transfer basis. The Detailed Project Report was approved by the Central Electricity Authority on May 26, 2025, with environmental clearance granted on January 7, 2026.
NHPC's Board approved investment on February 20, 2026, with a construction timeline of 44 months. Land acquisition will comply with the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition Act, 2013. The existing 390-MW Dulhasti Power Station has been operational since April 2007.
