As the existing Hartlepool facility is set to cease operations in 2028, the introduction of a 12-unit build of X Energy's XE 100 reactors will not only help retain the skilled workforce but also revitalize the local infrastructure. The government's designation of Hartlepool for new nuclear development under its national policy underscores the site's strategic importance.
