CGN Mining to Restart Nickel Production in Guatemala by May 2026 After Sanctions Lift

STRATEGIC MINERALSFUSION & ADVANCED NUCLEAR POWER

CGN Mining has made significant operational progress, exceeding uranium production targets in 2025 and preparing to restart nickel production in Guatemala. Following the lifting of U.S. sanctions, the Solway Investment Group plans to resume operations at the CGN Mine between April and May 2026, with an annual capacity of 2.2 million tons of nickel ore.

The timing of the restart aligns with rising nickel prices due to potential export restrictions in Indonesia. In addition, CGN Mining reported a robust performance in its uranium projects, with Kazakh joint ventures producing 2,699 tons of natural uranium in 2025.

Analysts note an increasing demand for nuclear energy amidst limited production capacities is stabilizing uranium prices. Detailed financial results for Q4 2025 will be released on March 19, 2026, focusing on the impact of uranium overproduction and costs associated with the restart of nickel activities.
