Challenges Facing Putin in Securing Ukraine's Lithium Resources
Ukraine's lithium reserves, estimated at over 500,000 tons of lithium oxide, are crucial for negotiations. However, two key challenges impede access: significant lithium deposits are under Russian control following targeted attacks by President Putin, and extraction costs in Ukraine are higher than in other regions, such as South America.

Ukraine possesses significant lithium reserves, with estimates suggesting over 500,000 tons of lithium oxide, making it a vital negotiation asset. However, President Putin's targeted assaults have led to Russian control over two of the four major lithium deposits. Furthermore, the extraction of lithium in Ukraine is costly, reportedly more expensive than in South America due to the geological characteristics of the deposits, according to Dmitro Kaschtschuk from Ukraine's Geological Investment Group.
