Chamera-1 Hydro Power Station Surpasses Energy Targets, Plans AI Integration
The Chamera-1 Hydro Power Station in Himachal Pradesh has exceeded its annual energy target of 1,664 million units, generating over 2,500 million units. This 540 MW facility, operational since 1984, supplies electricity to nine northern Indian states, including Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, and Haryana. It features advanced technology, including a French turbine and a GIS switchyard, and is preparing to adopt Artificial Intelligence to enhance operations.

The Chamera-1 Hydro Power Station in Himachal Pradesh has surpassed its design energy target of 1,664 million units, achieving over 2,500 million units in generation. This 540 MW facility, which began construction in 1984, operates three 180 MW units and supplies electricity to nine northern Indian states.
The project includes a 121-meter-high concrete dam and a reservoir of 391 million cubic meters. The station, built by the G-Canada consortium, features a French turbine and a GIS switchyard. Plans are underway to integrate Artificial Intelligence to further modernize operations.
