Charles Penny Appointed CEO of GreenSquareDC as Walt Coulston Transitions to Board Director
Charles Penny has been appointed CEO of GreenSquareDC, succeeding Walt Coulston, who will transition to a board director role while remaining a significant shareholder. The company, founded in 2021 and backed by Swiss private equity firm Partners Group, has a substantial data center development pipeline and plans to invest up to AU$1.2 billion to enhance its operations. Chairman Graeme Barclay expressed confidence in the leadership change, ensuring continuity for stakeholders as the firm moves forward.

Walt Coulston is stepping down as CEO of Australian data center firm GreenSquareDC, to be succeeded by Charles Penny, who previously served as chief development officer. Coulston will become a board director while remaining a significant shareholder.
GreenSquareDC, founded in 2021, has a gigawatt data center development pipeline and was launched in October 2022. The company was acquired last year by Swiss private equity firm Partners Group, which plans to invest up to AU$1.2 billion (US$803.5 million) to develop it into a next-generation data center platform. GreenSquareDC's chairman, Graeme Barclay, expressed confidence in the leadership transition, emphasizing continuity for stakeholders as the company advances into its operational phase.
