ChemVolt Global to Establish 5 GWh Lithium-Ion Gigafactory in Andhra Pradesh with INR 2,500 Crore Investment

ChemVolt Global has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Andhra Pradesh to establish a 5 GWh lithium-ion cell manufacturing gigafactory with an investment of INR 2,500 crore. The project aims to enhance India's domestic cell manufacturing capacity for grid-scale energy storage, clean mobility, and commercial energy needs.

The facility is projected to create approximately 1,500 direct jobs and over 4,000 indirect jobs. The gigafactory will be built in two phases, starting with a 1 GWh production line by Q3 2027 and reaching full capacity by Q2 2029.

The plant will produce prismatic lithium-ion cells for various applications. ChemVolt Global has also expanded its energy storage product offerings to support utility-scale and commercial energy storage.
