Chesterfield officials held a groundbreaking ceremony for a $168.3 million upgrade at the Proctors Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant, which includes a 12 million gallon flow-equalization basin. This facility will help manage peak wastewater flows, improving treatment efficiency.
The project, involving MEB General Contractors Inc. and engineering firms Hazen and Schnabel, began in January and is Chesterfield's largest utilities investment. It aims to double the plant's capacity from 27 million to 54 million gallons per day by 2031, accommodating future growth. A reuse system for treated wastewater is also being considered.
