Chhattisgarh: A Rising Industrial Powerhouse in India
Chhattisgarh is rapidly transforming into one of India's most dynamic industrial hubs, attracting investment proposals exceeding ?6.75 lakh crore over the last 18 months. This trend was solidified during the 'Industry Dialogue 2' in Raipur, where Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai announced new proposals worth ?1.25 lakh crore. The state's industrial focus has evolved from its traditional reliance on minerals to sectors such as IT, semiconductors, healthcare, green energy, and logistics.
The implementation of the Industrial Policy 2025 has been pivotal, introducing over 350 reforms and a Single Window System aimed at expediting processes for investors. The newly established Special Economic Zone (SEZ) near Raipur is expected to attract significant foreign direct investment, particularly in IT and pharmaceuticals. Key upcoming projects include an ?11,000 crore semiconductor facility by Polymatech Electronics, which aims to produce 10 billion chips annually by 2030, and a 150 MW data center by RackBank Datacenters, expected to generate 2,000 jobs.
The state is also focusing on developing its tourism sector, particularly in tribal regions like Bastar and Surguja, alongside enhancing logistical infrastructure through the Chhattisgarh Logistics Policy 2025. This includes developing logistics parks and transport centers, with additional grants offered to companies investing in these areas.
With a focus on sustainability, Chhattisgarh aims for net-zero carbon emissions by 2070 and has allocated ?9,500 crore for infrastructure development in 2025-26. The state projects a GSDP increase from ?5.68 lakh crore in 2024-25 to ?6.35 lakh crore by the end of the current fiscal year, with a growth rate of 7.5%, surpassing the national average. These developments mark Chhattisgarh's emergence as a cornerstone in India's vision of a developed nation.
