Chhattisgarh Congress Leader Requests NHRC Inquiry into Tribal Death Linked to Illegal Mining Incident

Charandas Mahant, a senior Congress leader in Chhattisgarh, has requested an independent investigation from the National Human Rights Commission regarding the death of a tribal villager, Ram alias Ramnaresh, on February 15 in Balrampur district. Ram died and two others were injured after being attacked over alleged illegal bauxite mining in Hanspur village.
Mahant's letter to NHRC Chairperson Justice V Ramasubramanian asserts that the death involved excessive use of force by authorities. He demands thorough accountability measures and support for the victim's family, along with medical care for the injured.
